Pemberton creates private debt opportunities for wealth and asset managers to meet demand from wider investor pool

Pemberton, a European private credit manager backed by one of Europe’s largest insurers, Legal & General Group PLC, has launched the ‘Pemberton Wealth & Asset Management Solutions’, a new initiative aimed at providing the world’s leading wealth and asset managers, and in turn their clients, with access to some of the best private debt opportunities in Europe.

The firm writes that in the current low yield environment, and where consistent returns, diversification and sustainability are top priorities, private debt has become an increasingly attractive and sought-after product for the wealth and asset management sector.

Michele Baldessarini, a senior member of the Business Development team, will lead the ‘Pemberton Wealth & Asset Management Solutions’ initiative and the effort in responding to varying target returns and risk parameters among managers and their clients. Pemberton will open up all four of its strategies, which focus solely on corporate debt, to provide investors access across the full spectrum of opportunities within the asset class.

With a focus on ESG, Pemberton provides in-depth credit risk analysis, strict screening of assets and detailed tracking of portfolio performance. In 2020, it became a carbon neutral firm and joined the Net Zero Asset Managers Commitment to support the target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner. Pemberton also introduced carefully developed ESG-linked margin ratchets to encourage portfolio companies and their owners to become better corporate citizens.
