European ETFs have already outpaced 2019’s record in net new assets with EUR104.2 billion gathered so far this year, Lyxor ETF says.

The trend over the past few months continued in July, with equities gathering healthy flows while flows into fixed income recovered after a mixed second quarter.

ETFs gathered EUR11.8 billion in July 2021. Fixed Income and Equity ETFs took in EUR6.8 billion and EUR5.3 billion respectively. ESG ETFs continued their strong trend with EUR8.2  billion in net new assets. ESG Equites took the lion’s share of these flows.

Smart Beta ETFs recorded -EUR1.6 billion outflows. The strong demand for Value lost traction whilst Quality was very much in favour, Lyxor says.

Fixed income funds and ETFs gathered a combined EUR31.6 billion in net new assets with EUR24.8 billion into open-ended funds and EUR6.8 billion into ETFs. Euro Fixed Income exposures were the most preferred.

Equity ETFs and open-ended funds enjoyed EUR20.7 billion of net new assets, with EUR15.5 billion into funds and EUR5.3 billion into ETFs. Broad exposures were favoured along with the healthcare sector.
