WisdomTree boosts digital assets platform with new hires

RELATED TOPICS

ETF issuer WisdomTree has bolstered its digital assets platform with the appointment of two digital assets specialists reflecting the growing popularity of the asset class among investors.

August saw Benjamin Dean join WisdomTree’s new Digital Assets team as a Director and Alice Liu join the European Research team as a Senior Associate.

WisdomTree writes that Dean has joined the firm from Hiscox Insurance Group where he was Cyber Catastrophe Research Lead. Prior to joining Hiscox, Ben provided consulting services on emerging technology, including digital assets, for various public and private sector organisations such as Coin Center, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the European Parliament.

Dean will play an active role in WisdomTree’s digital asset product development process, advising on overall strategy and develop connectivity to projects and services providers within the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Liu joins WisdomTree’s European Research team from Coutts & Co. where she was responsible for multi-asset product research and reviewed digital assets route-to-market options for Private Wealth and Institutional Investors. Reporting to Christopher Gannatti, Head of Research in Europe, Liu will focus solely on digital assets, supporting WisdomTree’s digital assets distribution efforts in Europe and complementing the existing cryptocurrency expertise within the team.

WisdomTree writes that the hires represent the growing importance of digital assets for WisdomTree and follow a series of new developments across its cryptocurrency product range which included the launch of a physically-backed ether ETP and cross-listing its range across multiple European exchanges. WisdomTree‘s digital assets products are listed on SIX, the Swiss stock exchange, Börse Xetra and on Euronext in Paris and Amsterdam with a total expense ratio of 0.95 per cent.

Alexis Marinof, Head of Europe, WisdomTree says: “Digital assets continue to grow in popularity and is establishing itself as an asset class with great potential. With investors seeking out high quality research, education and thought leadership, we have bolstered our team with the appointments of Ben and Alice to meet the growing demand we are seeing.  Our digital assets platform has gone from strength to strength, and we are preparing for the next phase in the evolution of our proposition which is built around best-in-class client servicing and product development.”

Marinof says: “This is the perfect time to join as WisdomTree embarks on the next phase of growth for its digital assets platform. My expertise complements and adds to the knowledge of the wider team as we execute an ambitious growth plan, which focuses on being the leading cryptocurrency ETP provider in Europe – and beyond – as well as identifying opportunities to expand into other areas of the digital assets ecosystem.”
