HANetf has passported its thematic ETF range to France and will list the funds on Euronext Paris in early December.

The firm writes that the 17 funds include a number of firsts to the European market including Europe’s first cloud ETF, space ETF, solar energy ETF and airlines ETF.  They also include Europe’s first ETFs with a carbon offset mechanism, HANzero, whereby the carbon footprint of the fund is offset neutralised through a projects such as the Topaiyo Conservation in Papua New Guinea and the Musi River Hydro Plant in Indonesia.
The announcement comes right after the appointment of Yann Hericotte to the newly created role of Head of ETF Sales for France. HANetf currently lists its thematic range, which is the most extensive by number in Europe,  on the London Stock Exchange, Borsa Italiana, Six and Deutsche Boerse and passports into Benelux, Nordics, Poland and Spain.
Co-CEO of HANetf, Hector McNeil, says: “France is a large and important ETF market and registering our thematic ETF range there and listing on Euronext Paris will enable French investors to have access to a better choice of exciting thematic and ESG ETFs.  We’re thrilled to be able to expand our distribution capabilities here. Due to France being a highly competitive market, led by the domestic banks, we decided to only launch once our brand became better known. Since we listed our first ETF, EMQQ, just over three years we have grown to over USD3 billion of AUM making us one of the fastest growing providers in Europe.

“We decided on an initial 17 ETFs but we expect to bring more subjects to demand over time. Gradually we want to be the leading ‘value add’ provider focusing on thematic, smart beta, active and crypto ETPs. As a white label provider, we also expect to add French asset managers who want to use our platform to enter the European ETF market in around 10 weeks.”

Brieuc Louchard, Head of ETFs at Euronext, says: “We are delighted to welcome HANetf and its range of thematic ETFs to Euronext Paris. These ETFs add to the diverse range of funds available on our markets and highlight Euronext as a premier listing and trading venue for ETFs in Europe.”
