Refinitiv Lipper reports highest estimated net inflows into equity ETFs in Europe over Q1

ETF promoters in Europe experienced estimated net inflows of EUR38.3 billion for Q1 2022, according to Refinitiv Lipper.

Assets under management in the European ETF industry increased over the course of Q1 2022 to EUR1,334.1 billion, and equity ETFs (+EUR30.1 billion) posted the highest estimated net inflows in the European ETF industry for Q1 2022.

The best-selling Lipper global classification for Q1 2022 was Equity US (+EUR10.1 billion), followed by Equity Global (+EUR10.1 billion) and Bond USD Government (+EUR4.4 billion).

iShares was the best-selling ETF promoter in Europe for Q1 2022 (+EUR16.3 billion), ahead of Amundi ETF (+EUR8.6 billion) and Invesco (+EUR4.0 billion).

Detlef Glow, Head of EMEA Research at Refinitiv Lipper, says: “Despite the current situation in Ukraine, Q1 2022 was another positive quarter for the European ETF industry since promoters enjoyed inflows. These inflows occurred in a volatile and negative market environment in which investor sentiment was impacted by increasing inflation rates, geopolitical tensions and the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Europe and other parts of the world.”
