Electronic platform Tradeweb Markets has reported total trading volume for August 2022 of USD23.4 trillion. Average daily volume (ADV) for the month was USD1.02 trillion, an increase of 13.0 per cent year-over-year (YoY).
The firm writes that its diversified offering across products, geographies and client sectors supported double-digit growth, amidst a complex macroeconomic background driven by evolving central bank policy, sustained elevated volatility, economic concerns and a stronger dollar.
US ETF ADV was up 20.2 per cent YoY to USD5.3 billion and European ETF ADV was up 36.4 per cent YoY (up 58.1 per cent YoY in EUR terms) to USD2.2 billion, the firm says.
An increase of 69.0 per cent YoY in global institutional client activity was driven by further adoption of RFQ and sustained market volatility, Tradeweb writes.
