AllianceBernstein bolsters ETF team with three new additions

AllianceBernstein has announced that the Global ETF Team, led by Global Head of ETFs & Portfolio Solutions Noel Archard, has expanded with the addition of three new team members: Head of ETF Specialists Brett Sheely, Global Head of ETF Strategy & Partnerships Julie Gunts, and ETF Operations Manager Jason Thalmann.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brett Sheely, Julie Gunts and Jason Thalmann to AllianceBernstein’s growing ETF team,” says Global Head of ETFs’ Archard. “These seasoned professionals will bring extensive industry knowledge that will further our ongoing commitment to building out our ETF platform for our clients.”

Brett Sheely joins AB as Head of ETF Specialists where he will preside over the team responsible for delivering both ETF content and expertise across AB’s ETF product suite. Sheely comes to AB from BlackRock where he served as Business & Sales Strategy for the iShares ETF and Retirement business, managing institutional relationships for the iShares ETF business and third-party model portfolio partnerships. Prior to joining BlackRock in 2013, Sheely began his career at UBS Investment Bank. He graduated from Boston College in 2008.

Julie Gunts has joined AB’s ETF team as Global Head of Strategy & Partnerships where she is assisting in the prioritisation and execution of emerging opportunities in the ETF and Portfolio Solutions spaces in key markets. Gunts is also engaging with a variety of industry organizations in an effort to represent AB’s interests in expanding the growth opportunities for the firm’s vehicles.

Gunts previously served as VP and Director of Strategy for Fixed Income at AB where she contributed to the development and execution of the firm’s fixed-income strategy and initiatives, with a focus on innovation and growth opportunities. In addition, she was a corporate credit research analyst for the firm in both the New York and London offices, focusing on the fundamental analysis of the high-yield bond and bank loan markets. Prior to joining AB in 2013, she worked as a high-yield strategist at Citigroup and a high-yield desk analyst at UBS Investment Bank. Gunts holds a B.S. in finance and accounting (summa cum laude) from Boston College and is a CFA charter holder.

Jason Thalmann joined AB’s ETF team in June 2022 as the ETF Operations Manager where he leads ETF Product Delivery and Oversight for the firm’s ETFs. Thalmann brings eight years of experience within the ETF Industry and 12 years overall within the Financial Services industry. Early in his career, Thalmann managed an ETF Operations team at State Street. Thalmann later transitioned to the ETF Product Development space at JP Morgan where he led and delivered several key ETF-focused initiatives. Thalmann graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.S. in Finance and Economics and later received his MBA with a concentration in Finance from the International University in Geneva, Switzerland.
