S&P Global Market Intelligence | Best ETF Back Office Tech Provider | Best ETF Middle Office Tech Provider
Anthony Rayar, Associate Director, ETF Product Lead, ETF and Benchmarking Solutions, S&P Global Market Intelligence (SPG-MI) explains that the main strengths of the firm are the breadth and depth of its data coverage of 10,000+ ETFs, 475,000+ indices and index variants, yielding over four million securities with 220+ data points.
“Our data is overlaid with enhanced quality checks and supported using various technology, including AI,” Rayar explains.
SPG-MI has served market participants for over 20 years in the ETF ecosystem by offering bespoke solutions seamlessly deployable and scalable across all functions by multiple delivery channels.
“We’ve produced daily ETF composition globally across all asset classes that is aggregated, validated and enriched to ensure our clients such as market makers, liquidity providers, risk, compliance and quants/research have the most accurate and timely data possible. Fundamental understanding and organic client demand allow us to grow our product suite including iNAV+ engine, PCF engine, analytics and encyclopedia. The robust product offering is supported by a global team of analysts, located close to our clients to ensure we have coverage across all time zones and speak the same language.”
Rayar has observed two main trends around transparency and technology. “The ETF wrapper is known for its transparency for the end investor perspective with daily holdings, disclosure of fees and more. However, in recent years, we’ve seen an increased need for transparency from the practitioner’s perspective. This is a case where clients’ demand has helped us create iNAV+, which gives issuers, market makers, and traders a second-by-second intraday fair valued pricing from an independent and objective source to access the health of the ETF.”
We’re also leveraging the latest technology for internal processes, such as using data science and AI to enrich encyclopedia data, allowing us to deliver a more sophisticated ETF product offering.
“We are excited about the future as we have identified unique datasets from S&P Global that will enrich the ETF composition data by adding insights such as short interest, ESG, Fixed Income bond pricing, to name a few.”
Rayar says that he is very optimistic about the ETF landscape going forward. “We are heavily investing in our people, process and product. We’ve continued to partner with our clients, some of whom are first time entrants into the ETF landscape contributing to the industry’s growth.”
