Investors preferred equity ETFs in February: Amundi

Amundi reports that last month, investors allocated EUR13.8 billion to European UCITS ETFs – more than five times higher than the allocation to fixed income.

The firm writes that while total global ETF inflows were close to average at EUR68.6 billion, investors preferred equities, adding EUR50.1 billion to this asset class compared with fixed income gaining EUR17.5 billion. 

In the US, allocations to equities were almost three times higher than fixed income at EUR32.3 billion and EUR13.6 billion respectively, Amundi writes. The most popular strategies were US large blend and global large cap, which gained EUR8.3 billion and EUR6.9 billion apiece. The European UCITS ETF market attracted EUR15.5 billion in February with strong appetite for equities.

Flows into European UCITS ETFs were EUR13.8 billion – more than five times higher than the allocation to fixed income. Mirroring global trends, investors added EUR4.2 billion to US equity and EUR4.1 billion to developed world indices.

Investors added EUR2.6 billion to European UCITS fixed income ETFs with both government and aggregate bond indices both gaining EUR1 billion, the firm says.
