April ETF flows lower: Amundi

RELATED TOPICS

Amundi’s ETF Market Flows Analysis for April reveals that investors added EUR54.1 billion to global ETFs in April with equities gaining EUR31.2 billion and fixed income strategies adding EUR21.4 billion. These flows were lower compared to March, reflecting investors’ lack of clarity over the future direction of interest rates, the firm writes.

European UCITS ETF market

Equity: European UCITS ETF strategies gained EUR7.0 billion. Developed market world indices attracted inflows of EUR2.2 billion and European strategies added EUR2.0 billion, with investors making the most of dividend season. US indices accumulated EUR1.5 billion and Japanese equities again proved attractive to investors, adding EUR1.2 billion, the firm writes.

Fixed income: Investors allocated EUR4.5 billion to European UCITS fixed income ETF strategies with government debt gaining EUR2.1 billion. Long dated US-dollar denominated bonds gained EUR0.7 billion, while short-dated attracted EUR0.4 billion of inflows. This ‘bar bell’ approach to duration reflects different investor attitudes to the future direction of interest rates, the firm writes.
