The SIX Swiss Exchange has surpassed CHF3 billion in trading turnover across its crypto products this week.
The exchange writes that this milestone, just four months after reaching CHF 2 billion, underscores the SIX Swiss Exchange as one of the premier regulated venues globally for cryptocurrency-linked ETPs (Exchange Traded Products) and structured products.
By year-to-date figures, the exchange has recorded 18,360 crypto trades, surpassing last year’s total of 85,829 trades in just 10 months. SIX Swiss Exchange writes that it now offers an extensive selection of 380 crypto products, of which 170 are ETPs backed by 48 different underlying assets.
The exchange says that the most popular assets among investors have been bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, reflecting broader market trends while allowing investors access to established and emerging digital assets. The venue writes that it has also successfully attracted 18 issuers into its crypto product lineup.
Bitcoin futures hit new records
More than 202,000 Micro Bitcoin Futures contracts were traded at the CME Group this week (November 13), equating to roughly USD1.8 billion worth of bitcoin was actively traded – the highest daily volume recorded for these contracts.
Micro Bitcoin Futures, smaller-sized contracts that allow people to invest in bitcoin through a regulated market without buying the cryptocurrency directly, had their second-busiest day ever the previous day (November 12). While out of the top five days, four were in November 2024 alone. The only outlier, August 5, 2024, had been the previous record holder before bitcoin’s latest price rally reignited interest this month, the exchange writes.
