ETF Express US awards

ETF Express newsletter 29.10.21

This week sees the publication of the ETF Express US awards report, with interviews with many of the winners from the US ETF issuers’ community and a range of service providers. The report gives a clear snapshot of this vibrant industry and the passion of those involved in it.

In terms of features, we managed to avoid crypto this week, taking just a few days to draw breath before the next round of US crypto ETP launches. In place of crypto we have an impact ETF from Humankind, founded by former Vanguard analyst James Katz. Humankind’s proprietary Humankind US Equity Index tracks the top 1,000 US companies that promote healthier, safer, more equitable and longer lives. The result of the quant analysis of each company is a single dollar figure, designed to represent a company’s true social and economic value to humanity.

We also spoke with Andrew Beer of Dynamic Beta this week who argues that managed futures ETFs are better than hedge funds. His DBMF fund, iM DBi Managed Futures Strategy ETF, is up 12.5 per cent year to date, outperforming the Société Générale CTA index. “We believe that product development in the entire liquid alts world is entirely misguided,” Beer says. “If you build and run a model portfolio the whole ethos is that you want to invest in an ETF that gives you benchmark or like exposure so that you are never wrong.”
