Rusty Vanneman, CIO of Omaha-based Orion Advisor Solutions, brings the ETF business back to its fundamentals this week with his comment that investment advisers like stories and lots of ETFs have stories. It’s a good moment to stop and remember that the nimble ETF gives investors the ability to invest in the stories that are close to their hearts and investment portfolios whether it’s a specific theme such as Veganism, the strength of the pet industry or the need to limit risk in a portfolio. All of these are great stories and lie behind the huge growth in assets that the ETF industry is seeing at the moment.
ESG is one of the most dominant themes in all investing and ETFs are particularly good at creating exposure to the sector. The latest EDHEC-Risk ETF survey found that in 2020, 49 per cent of respondents are investing in SRI/ESG, a significant increase compared to 17 per cent in 2011.
Olivier Paquier, Head of ETF Distribution in EMEA, is also interviewed this week, discussing the JPMAM global ETF survey, saying that this year will be one for the record books in terms of assets raised in ETFs (let alone all the other reasons).
I am very pleased to be able to tell you that the etfLIVE North America digital summit later this month is in partnership with NYSE and Women in ETFs. Please find the current agenda, with new speakers, here, and register to attend. CPD points are also available.
